Postcards From St Ives

A long time ago I fell in love with Cornwall and over the past few years I have been lucky enough to share my love for this part of the world with my husband with our yearly trips to the Scarlet Hotel. Then a couple of years ago we took our children to this magical place and they too fell in love.

We spent this past week in St Ives. This is the second year in a row that we've headed for this wonderful town on the coast and this time we all agreed that we will do our very best to make sure that we return every year.

Both times we've stayed right by Porthmeor Beach where my eldest loves to surf at the brilliant St Ives Surf School and my other children enjoy climbing on the rocks, splashing in the sea, building sand castles and playing cricket when the tide is out. I can imagine it won't be long before they are all surfing too.

Every day we did the same thing and not once did any of us get bored. Beach, lunch, beach, ice-cream at the harbour, dinner, sleep, repeat.

I did also pop into a couple of the artist studios and the lovely little shops. And the older children went to the cinema one evening but essentially we were entertained by the sea, sand and each other. The simple things in life that are so precious.

I find being by the coast so incredibly good for my soul, for thinking about my work away from my laptop and for connecting with this beautiful world.

I now feel ready to hit the ground running and make the most of the time I have in the lead up to the big Summer holiday. I have something special to share with you for this time, so watch this space! xo
