Stef here, with a bit of exciting news – I'm getting in front of the camera for a new Youtube series. Here's the first video!
I've been living by a simple rule for half of my life – to aim to create something every day. It's not always easy, but generally, every day of my life, I somehow try to end the day having created something, however small.
We're starting a new occasional video series on the Makelight Youtube channel where I'll be sharing thoughts about living a creative life and some of the struggles us creative or want-to-be-more-creative people face.
I've heard a lot of people talking about the idea that you should seek to do meaningful work, that "doing what you love" is the ultimate thing to aim for in the work part of life. I'm going to be delving into that idea a little, because I don't think it's as simple as it sounds. Leading a creative life often involves a lot of hard work!
In this first video I thought I'd just talk to camera about my brush with death at a young age, and what spurred me to make creativity part of my daily habit.
If you'd like to follow along in this series, make sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel, and if you'd like to read a little more from me, I write on Medium. Here are a couple of posts you might like that will give you a flavour of what to expect:
- Create Something Every Day – some more in-depth thoughts about the creative habit.
- Do What You Love And Pay The Bills – a look at the challenges of earning money from the thing that you love doing.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this series! If you have an idea or suggestion, please pop in a comment.
