Today is the first official day of Spring. Looking outside my window at the grey, wet and windy day here in London today, it doesn't look much like Spring but if I turn around and look at all the leftovers from yesterday's Spring Workshop it certainly does!
Yesterday was just brilliant. So many of you tuned in Live from all over the world to watch our Spring Photography and Styling workshop over on our Facebook Page. And very best part is that we raised over £1,000 for UNICEF. Our way of spreading the Makelight love a little further this Spring to help children around the world who are facing some really hard times.
If you didn't get the chance to join us Live yesterday, you can still watch the workshop (which is in four parts) on our Spring Live course page. It is free to access, so please do share it with anyone you think might find it useful.
During the workshop I promised that I would take some images with the props and backgrounds I was using yesterday and share them with you. Here are a selection!
All of these images were taken with my Canon 5D III with my Canon 24-70 F2.8 lens. They were all edited with Photoshop using Radlab.
The background is from Capture By Lucy and the pink muslin is from Silk and Willow. The little seed packets I shared in the workshop (the ones lots of you asked about!) are from Maartje van den Noort. I'm not sure if she's selling them at the moment but here is her online store.
I have really enjoyed seeing some of your images on Instagram under the #MakelightSpringLive and #MakelightLive hashtags. Here are some of my favourites.
I'm feeling decidedly Spring like. Emily's @emilyquinton Spring photography styling workshop yesterday was so welcome.(You can still watch it) ☺ I arrived back in the UK on Saturday evening so wasn't totally prepared with props. I gathered together dried flowers and a few tiny sprigs of periwinkle from the garden and put them with a wooden flower box. Knitting needles had to be there because they're a part of every season for me. ☺ Have a wonderful Monday lovely people ☺☺💕 ps. I'm popping photos of my India and Nepal trip in Stories. ☺
Was inspired watching @emilyquinton this morning on her spring live sessions (catch them on FB!) ... so interesting to watch. Flat lay and styling does not come naturally to me, but I really enjoy other people's images and have been wanting to learn a bit more about them for a while now. Here's a few of my favorite things... tulips, hellebores and succulents on vintage wood(which is never straight!). Probably could have skipped the succ but that's how you learn. Hopefully it brings a smile to a few faces today💕 PS zoom in to swoon at the maturing hellies. I cut these a week ago. #flatlay #makelightspringlive #makelight365 #helleborus #chestercounty #floralinspo #CCseasonal #vintagestilllife #embracingtheseasons #spring #tulips #welcomespring @makelight
Flowers 'rescued' from the reduced pile in the supermarket. Our kitchen resembles a garden at the moment, and I like it, even if we have to fight for room at the breakfast table with all of the floppy tulips. 💐💐💐💐💐 #makelightspringlive #makelight365 #stylingspring #colorcolouryellow #colorcolourlovers #capturingcolour #thebrighthome #littlecornersofmylife #botanicalpickmeup #distractionsandinspirations #livethelittlethings #inspiredbypetals #petalsandprops #signsofspring #byarrangement
Thank you all again for making the start of Spring extra special. And thank you to Facebook for creating my favourite technology of the moment with Facebook Live! xo
